NEWS May 25, 2008 John and Jane just wrapped up another sucessful show at the 2nd annual RONA Memory Walk for the Quebec Alzheimer's Society. This year topped last year, in that the weather was beautiful, sunny and warm. After a 3K and 5K walk, participants were treated to refreshments, music and John and Jane's 40 minute family magic show. This year they shared the stage with A Touch of Class-ics, a three member band from the Chateauguay Valley. The crowd was very enthusiastic and it was great to see so many people helping out for such an important cause. November 4, 2007 Halloween magic show at Mary Gardner School Dan Rosenburg Literally dozens of witches, gypsies, devils, clowns, vampires, super heroes and fairy princesses jammed into the Mary Gardner School gymnasium last Wednesday for a highly entertaining Halloween magic show put on by Howick illusionist John Martin. "Often when I perform, people ask me what instrument I play," Martin confided to his enthusiastic young audience that encompassed the school's entire student body. "But I'm a magician, not a musician," he joked. Not only did Martin keep the audience amused with his baffling illusions but he also revealed himself to be a first-class ventriloquist. He benefited from the occasion to impart some Halloween safety tips to the eager pupils, who were appropriately costumed for the occasion...as were most of their teachers and principal Karin Van Droffelaar.
